Day 80 Umbrellas

Rain. Rain. Rain. This morning was a dirty, filthy morning, grey, grim, wet and the theme continued for much of the day.  The type of day when if you are without an umbrella you are wet through and even if you are with an umbrella chances are you are still more than damp. It never seemed to be necessary before recently to carry an umbrella in Prague. The rain never seemed to be that persistent. You could hide from it for a minute and then go on your merry way. But recently the rain has become more Welsh and when it starts it keeps on. So this morning I searched for my umbrella and left the house armed against the the elements..  Except I didn’t need it. You know  those days when you take a brolly out because of the weather forecast and then it is a beautiful day and you feel a right numpty having a brolly. Well today it rained and rained and rained except for the brief moments when I was out on the street. Then, the rain stopped, itsy bitsy spider made preparations to conquer the waterspout again and the sun peaked behind the clouds. Then as soon as I got into a car, a tram or a building the rain clattered down again, washing out that poor spider and drowning the weak sunshine.  Now you might think this was a good thing. At least you didn’t get wet you are thinking. Well no I didn’t, but I did lug around a long awkward umbrella for the whole day for no apparent reason.
